Touch-tacular!

Hooray! Britt and I's touch/sensation installation went up yesterday.

It had been a long time in the making - since this summer when my 12-year old co-worker at the fruit stand decided it would be funny to put a grocery bag full of water on my head and we realized it felt great. I thought, hey - why don't I make a silly spa of good sensations. Once Brittany and I began, it morphed into an installation of plastic fish bags, bubble wrap undulations, inky water, corn starch and water (which makes a substance that is both a solid and liquid! really, try it for yourself), salt crystals, a feather shower, and best of all, the tub.

Britt had heaps of polystyrene beads left over from another project and we decided, if it felt nice to dip your hand into them, it would feel fantastic to dip your whole body in. We were right. Everyone loved it.

More pictures/ video footage to come! (Probably on my web site).

Just last night my brother was telling me all about corn starch water! He said he saw a show where a guy danced on top of a vat of it because the pressure from his feet made it instantly turn solid. So you could run across a pond of the stuff, but if you stop running you sink right it. Sooooo cool!
